It was really hot here today and I am sick with a cold. Boo. I filled up Carter's little pool and let him splash around. It was a nice way to cool off and keep him in one place so I didn't have to chase him around!

Bookworm
So Carter may look exactly like his daddy but he sure shares similar interests with his mommy. Like his passion for books! Carter will sit in your lap forever if you will read him books. And he is still very particular about his reading material. What may be his favorite book one day, the next day he will push it away in disgust (only to beg for it the following day!) Now he has started reading to himself! It's so cute!
Sometimes he gets confused (or maybe he is uber-smart and is learning to read the book with his mind!)

Livin' in the OC
Have I mentioned how much I love living in Southern California? This weekend felt like summertime. Sunny skies and cool breezes... it was perfect.
Carter spent today in the pool with his daddy. He is completely captivated and enthralled by anything water. (toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, fountains, swimming pools, sprinklers, puddles... heck, even a glass of water with a few ice cubes swirling around in it will hold his attention forever!)
I love Carter's fearless spirit!
Carter's new favorite food of the week is blackberries!
And Carter's new favorite game is to run around the island in the kitchen. He peeks around the corner and waits for someone to come after him!

Beach Day
Carter and I took a trip to Huntington Beach to spend the day with Auntie Harmony and Uncle Jesse. (They took all these awesome pictures as I had to hold Carter's hand nearly the whole time so he didn't dive off the pier or run head first into the ocean!)
Our fun began at their house, where Carter got to play with a guinea pig and two birds!
Then we headed to the pier and had a very yummy lunch at Ruby's Diner. Carter was thrilled to have sweet potato french fries and an itsy bitsy vanilla ice cream cone.
After lunch, we went to the dog beach. I couldn't believe how many dogs were there! I actually thought that Carter would want to sit and watch the dogs play but the ocean was calling his name. He ran straight for the water and ended up covered from head to toe in wet sticky sand. Ewwww. My shoes and pants were also covered in wet sand after chasing him into the ocean. Carter is not at all afraid to get messy! Next time I will be better prepared (towels, swimsuit, etc.) The weather was perfect though and now I am soooo ready for summer!

Who Needs a Gym?
..... when you have a toddler chasing you around the house, it's like bootcamp. But it never ends. I don't think Carter stopped moving once today unless he was napping. It also makes working from home difficult because he can walk over to my desk now and try to pull everything off it and pound on my keyboard!
I also can't get up because if I do, he follows me. Everywhere. Didn't I just blog about loving this age? :)

What We're Reading...
Richard Scarry's Things That Go!
Apparently, the most hilarious story ever written.
