Happy Birthday to Me!

So I am now officially 29 years old. Nothing special about 29... except I can still say I am in my 20s! My birthday was absolutely amazing. To start off, Dave, Carter, and I got up early and enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Bagels N Brew. Then, Aimee, Torrey, Harmony, and I went to Glen Ivy. If you have never been, it is a must! We didn't even get any spa treatments--we just went to lie around and relax. (Plus you get free admission on your birthday!) We played in the mud pool, laid on rafts, went in the mineral water spa, the Roman bath, the steam room, the sauna... we ate a very yummy lunch (BBQ Chicken Pizza for me!), read girly magazines... it was amazing. Thanks to my girlfriends for making my day so perfect.

Then I went home, played with Carter, and then Dave took me to a yummy sushi dinner. It really was a wonderful day! Dave took the day off work so he could spend some time with Carter (they went swimming too!) and he took my car in and got it completely serviced, fixed my air conditioner (hooray!) and got it washed. What a great husband!

So thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. It really was a perfect day. Here are some pics from the day plus a few cute ones of Carter, since I know he's the reason everyone reads my blog! :)

Did I mention Carter is now reading? :)

Happy Father's Day!

What can I say? I am thankful for fathers! Carter is such a lucky little boy to have important male role models in his life. He already wants to be just like his daddy and for that I am thankful! Dave is honest, caring, loving, sensitive, intelligent, respectful, playful, and funny--all traits that I hope are passed on to my son. Our Father's Day was pretty mellow, which I know Dave was happy about. Carter and I woke up early and fixed a big breakfast--cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos. Then Carter and Dave took a long nap together. We had a BBQ that night with the whole family. Carter's present to Dave was a picture frame full of pictures that says "I heart Daddy." Dorky yes, but I couldn't resist.

Here was Dave's Father's Day card:

Another important person in Carter's life is his Grandpa. They go on lizard walks every morning together. Here they are playing piano together:

Dave spent a lot of the day playing with Carter. He discovered that Carter loves to be thrown up in the air (much to my dismay). I get frustrated sometimes because I know Carter can roll over--I have seen him do it before, but he never wants to do it again! So here is Dave playing a game with Carter called "Roll Over."

Seven Months!

My little boy is 7 months old. Even though he is still "little" in size, he isn't so "little" in personality! He is very particular about things and is so busy even though he can't crawl yet. He can sit up pretty well (even unassisted for a minute or so!) and now that he has achieved this new skill, he refuses to lie down! He loves to pull himself up into a standing position. He's becoming more social too. He loves to leave the house to visit people, as long as it doesn't interfere with his nap time. His schedule has become predictable and regular, which I love... it makes my day much easier! Here he is with Nellie the elephant, his new BFF.

I couldn't decide which bathtime picture was cuter, so I will post them both!

Lastly, this picture cracks me up. Dave and Carter were watching the Laker game. As loud as Dave was hollering at the television, Carter didn't seem to mind. He fell asleep quite happily amongst all the chaos!

Just Hanging Out

It seems like June is just getting busier and busier! We haven't had much time to unwind, although as you can see from the picture above, Dave and Carter managed to find time to watch basketball together! I love that the weather is warm and summer is here. I can't wait for long, lazy summer days. Carter has developed quite a personality and a great set of lungs! He now has a signature scream that he does (when he's really excited and when he's really frustrated) and it is super cute when we are at home, but not so much when we are in public (like at the bookstore!) Now that he can sit up fairly well, he refuses to lay back, even when in a bouncy chair. He props himself up on his elbows and tries to lean forward. It looks terribly uncomfortable but I guess it is his way of demonstrating his independence and excitement with his new ability. He can't sit unassisted yet, though, so he wants someone sitting with him all the time to help him. Can't wait till he can do it on his own! Here are some cute videos of Carter and Dave:

Great-Grandma's Birthday!

Last weekend we went to Lancaster for my Grandma's birthday party. Carter loves his Great-Grandma Cushman and spent a lot of time smiling and talking to her. My Grandma is so very sweet and I love that Carter could spend some time with her and that we could celebrate with our family.
Here is my Grandma with most of her grandkids:

Here is Uncle Brian feeding Carter:

Here is Carter with my Aunt Sherry (notice that his hands are shoved in his mouth--that's his new signature move):

And here's Carter smiling at his Great-Grandma:

And lastly, a cute profile picture of Carter (can you tell I spiked his hair!?):

Angel Game

I've been meaning to post these pictures but haven't had time to get around to it. We got Angel tickets last weekend and took Torrey for her birthday. I never was a huge baseball fan until I met Dave but now I absolutely love going to Angel games and cheering for our team. I was so excited to take Carter to his first Angel game but was a bit unsure as to how he was going to take it all in. I don't know why I ever doubt him! He was a champion and was the best baby ever. He loved being in his Baby Bjorn and I must say that many heads turned to do a double-take and stop and say how cute he was. He definitely draws a crowd!

It was really hot when we went so I was worried about being in the sun, but it turned out that our seats were in the shade and there was a nice breeze and it was just lovely. We ate yummy food and watched a great game (we won with a walk-off home run) and Carter loved the noise. I'm not sure he was too thrilled with the fireworks but he loved the thunder sticks that people behind us were banging together. Torrey even managed to get him to take a quick snooze in her arms.

It was a wonderful day that I got to spend with my favorite people. I can't wait to take Carter to more Angel games. I know Dave is excited for Carter to grow up and play baseball someday (especially since I have a no football rule!)

xoxo Puppies and Family xoxo

This is a picture of my brother and I with all of our puppies. My mom used to breed, raise, and show bulldogs. Aren't we precious? :) I grew up with dogs my whole life and Dave wasn't allowed to have a dog. Hence, he is not too excited about the idea of us someday owning a dog. I told him that's fine (because I know that one day Carter will beg for a puppy and Dave will easily cave!)

My mom and brother came over for Memorial Day and we had a BBQ. Dave grilled some hamburgers and chicken and we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Then Dave and I went for a swim and then cuddled together on the couch with Carter and watched a movie on Dave's new computer media center thing. It was wonderful. I love my family.
